7: The Perfect Number
Seven is a special number for many cultures around the world. It is often thought of as the perfect number because it has a wide range of positive qualities that make it stand out. From representing perfection and completeness to morality, wisdom and truth, seven has come to signify many different things throughout time.
In numerology and mathematics, the number 7 is seen as a higher spiritual vibration. Its geometric shape is similar to a triangle, which symbolizes the perfect balance between the physical and spiritual planes. This number is also thought to bring good luck in many cultures.
Seven is associated with the days of completion in creation – on the seventh day, God rested because he had finished his work – and in culture, seven denotes the idea of completeness. Jewish law dictates that men wait seven days after their Brith Milah (circumcision) before attending a gathering; seven is also a number of life and new beginnings.
Seven has also long been thought of as a symbolic number in Christianity. There are seven major sacraments and the Apocalypse includes the seven seals, the seven trumpets and the seven bowls of wrath. In Islamic culture, the number seven is used to refer to the seven limitations placed upon God.
The number seven is also important in astrology and the Tarot. In astrology it stands for the seven planets visible to the naked eye while in the Tarot it represents the seven stages of man’s soul journey.
Seven is powerful in many cultures, with its multiple positive connotations that symbolize perfect unity, totality and faith.
